Overview

What it does

Zapier MCP is a hosted server that links an MCP client to the apps you have connected in Zapier. Every client uses the same endpoint, mcp.zapier.com/api/v1/connect, over Streamable HTTP. You sign in with OAuth from inside the client and Zapier creates the server for you, adding actions for the apps already connected to your account. Zapier holds the app credentials, so the client never sees a third-party API key.

In the default agentic mode the assistant uses a fixed set of meta-tools to search for actions, turn them on and run read or write actions. Managed mode lets you choose the tools in advance instead. You can save reusable workflows as Skills. Every call is logged in the History tab at mcp.zapier.com. Clients that cannot do OAuth can use a connection token in an Authorization header. Each successful tool call uses two tasks from your Zapier plan.

Tools

What the assistant can do

  • Discover, enable and disable Zapier actions
  • Run read actions and write actions across connected apps
  • Auto-provisioning from your existing app connections
  • Manage app connections and default accounts
  • Create and manage reusable Skills
  • Action history at mcp.zapier.com

Install

Install Zapier MCP server in your app

You need:

  • A Zapier account
  • An MCP client that supports Streamable HTTP (SSE-only clients cannot connect)

Run in your project. --scope local keeps the servers private to you in this project; use user for every project.

Terminal
claude mcp add --scope local --transport http zapier https://mcp.zapier.com/api/v1/connect
  • zapier: if the server needs a sign-in, the app will ask (run /mcp in Claude Code).

Want it alongside other servers? Open Zapier MCP in the MCP config generator and add the rest; it writes one file per app. The snippets follow the setup in the server’s README, checked on 2026-10-14.

Before you install

  • Write actions run with your real app accounts, such as sending email or changing records; review them before approving.
  • Use managed mode to limit the assistant to tools you choose in advance.
  • A connection token grants anyone who holds it use of the server’s tools; keep it in an environment variable and send it as a header, not in the URL.
  • A remote server sees whatever the assistant sends it. Sign in with the narrowest access the service offers. See how to choose a safe server.
