Overview
What it does
The Cloudflare Documentation MCP Server is a hosted endpoint run by Cloudflare. It uses Cloudflare AI Search over an index of the full Cloudflare developer documentation and exposes one tool that returns matching passages. There is nothing to install and no account or OAuth step, so you add the URL to your client and start asking questions about Workers, R2, D1, AI Search bindings and the rest of the platform.
It lives in a repository of domain-specific Cloudflare servers, all reachable at https URLs ending in /mcp: Containers (a sandbox development environment), Browser Run (fetch pages, convert them to Markdown, take screenshots), Digital Experience Monitoring, Cloudflare One CASB, the Cloudflare Blog and a Demo Day example. Cloudflare recommends its separate Cloudflare API MCP Server at mcp.cloudflare.com when you want broad account access through code execution. Several older servers, such as Observability, Radar and Workers Bindings, are now marked deprecated. Pick the documentation server when you want accurate answers about Cloudflare without granting access to your account.
Tools
What the assistant can do
- search_cloudflare_documentation: search the Cloudflare developer documentation
- Answers on pricing, limits and usage for Workers, R2, Analytics Engine and other products
- Hosted at docs.mcp.cloudflare.com, no OAuth or API token needed
- Sibling servers in the same repository: Containers, Browser Run, DEX, CASB and Blog
Install
Install Cloudflare Documentation MCP server in your app
You need:
- An MCP client that supports remote (Streamable HTTP) servers
Run in your project. --scope local keeps the servers private to you in this project; use user for every project.
claude mcp add --scope local --transport http cloudflare-docs https://docs.mcp.cloudflare.com/mcp
Project root. Commit it to share the servers with your team; each person sets the variables in their own shell.

- cloudflare-docs is a remote server: add it as a custom connector (Customize → Connectors → + Add → Add custom connector; on Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors), with the URL https://docs.mcp.cloudflare.com/mcp.
In your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project.

Want it alongside other servers? Open Cloudflare Documentation MCP Server in the MCP config generator and add the rest; it writes one file per app. The snippets follow the setup in the server’s README, checked on 2026-10-14.
Before you install
- The documentation server is read-only and sees only your search text, not your Cloudflare account.
- The other Cloudflare servers sign in to your account with OAuth and can change resources, so review their scopes before connecting them.
- A remote server sees whatever the assistant sends it. Sign in with the narrowest access the service offers. See how to choose a safe server.
Why it’s listed
Why we list it
Cloudflare’s own documentation server is free, needs no credentials and is the safest way to give an assistant current Cloudflare knowledge.
