Overview
What it does
The Supabase MCP Server is a hosted endpoint at mcp.supabase.com. Your client opens a browser window, you sign in to Supabase and pick the organisation to share, and no personal access token is needed. The URL takes query parameters: project_ref scopes the server to one project, read_only=true removes mutating tools, and features= limits which tool groups load. The dashboard has a URL builder that fills these in for you. Local Supabase CLI and self-hosted setups offer a smaller tool set without OAuth.
Tools are grouped into Database, Debugging, Development, Edge Functions, Account management, Docs, Branching (paid plans) and Storage (off by default). An agent can inspect schemas, apply migrations, query logs, fetch security and performance advisors and generate TypeScript types. Cost and destructive SQL confirmations appear when your client supports MCP elicitation, but Supabase treats them as a guardrail rather than a guarantee.
Tools
What the assistant can do
- Database: list tables, extensions and migrations, apply migrations, execute SQL
- Debugging: query project logs and get security and performance advisors
- Development: get project URL and publishable keys, generate TypeScript types
- Edge Functions: list, read and deploy functions
- Account management: list, create, pause and restore projects
- Docs: search the Supabase documentation
- Branching (paid plans): create, merge, reset and rebase branches
Install
Install Supabase MCP server in your app
You need:
- A Supabase account
Run in your project. --scope local keeps the servers private to you in this project; use user for every project.
claude mcp add --scope local --transport http supabase https://mcp.supabase.com/mcp
- supabase: sign in when the app asks (run /mcp in Claude Code).
Project root. Commit it to share the servers with your team; each person sets the variables in their own shell.

- supabase is a remote server: add it as a custom connector (Customize → Connectors → + Add → Add custom connector; on Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors), with the URL https://mcp.supabase.com/mcp.

Want it alongside other servers? Open Supabase MCP Server in the MCP config generator and add the rest; it writes one file per app. The snippets follow the setup in the server’s README, checked on 2026-10-14.
Before you install
- execute_sql and apply_migration can change or delete data; add read_only=true to the URL when the agent only needs to read.
- Add project_ref=<project-ref> to the URL to scope the server to one project and hide account-level tools such as create_project.
- Supabase advises reading its security best practices first and connecting to development data rather than production.
- A remote server sees whatever the assistant sends it. Sign in with the narrowest access the service offers. See how to choose a safe server.
Why it’s listed
Why we list it
Supabase’s own server, with clear read-only and project-scoping switches and frequent releases.
