Overview
What it does
The PayPal MCP Server lets merchants run PayPal business tasks from an MCP client. PayPal hosts a remote server at mcp.paypal.com, with a separate endpoint at mcp.sandbox.paypal.com for testing. On first connection the client sends you to the PayPal login page to authorise access, and PayPal says the full tool catalogue is available remotely. A local package, @paypal/mcp, also exists and takes a short-lived PAYPAL_ACCESS_TOKEN, but it has not had a release in about a year.
Tools are grouped into invoices, payments, dispute management, shipment tracking, catalogue management, subscription management, and reporting and insights. An agent can draft and send an invoice, create an order, issue a refund, accept a dispute claim or set up a subscription plan from a plain-language request. It suits small businesses that already use PayPal and want to batch routine billing work. Test against the sandbox endpoint before connecting a live account.

Want it alongside other servers? Open PayPal MCP Server in the MCP config generator and add the rest; it writes one file per app. The snippets follow the setup in the server’s README, checked on 2026-10-14.
Before you install
- Tools can move money and change customer-facing records: issue refunds, pay orders, send invoices and cancel subscriptions.
- Use the sandbox endpoint (https://mcp.sandbox.paypal.com/mcp) while testing; PayPal’s README says AI output may be inaccurate and must be checked.
- A remote server sees whatever the assistant sends it. Sign in with the narrowest access the service offers. See how to choose a safe server.
Why it’s listed
Why we list it
PayPal’s own hosted server covers the everyday merchant tasks of invoicing, refunds, disputes and subscriptions behind PayPal login.
