Overview
What it does
A small skill that shows how to give Claude a house style. SKILL.md is short; the formats live in an examples/ folder, one file each for progress-plans-problems updates, a company newsletter, FAQ answers and general communications.
Claude reads only the example that matches the request, which keeps the context small. It’s a useful pattern to copy: replace the example files with your own team’s formats and the skill writes in your organisation’s voice.
Triggers
When Claude uses it
- Requests for internal communications: status reports, leadership or project updates, newsletters, FAQs, incident reports.
A set of resources to help me write all kinds of internal communications, using the formats that my company likes to use. Claude should use this skill whenever asked to write some sort of internal communications (status reports, leadership updates, 3P updates, company newsletters, FAQs, incident reports, project updates, etc.).
What it needs
- Nothing to install. Edit the files in examples/ to match your own formats.
Install
How to install it
Claude Code
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/skills
/plugin install example-skills@anthropic-agent-skillsThe example-skills plugin installs 12 skills from this repository, including this one. Its skills are then namespaced, such as /example-skills:internal-comms.
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/anthropics/skills.git
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
cp -r skills/skills/internal-comms ~/.claude/skills/That makes it a personal skill, available as /internal-comms in all your projects. Copy it into .claude/skills/ in a repository instead to share it with your team.
claude.ai and the Claude API
Zip the skill folder, then in claude.ai open Customize > Skills, choose + and Create skill, then Upload a skill. Code execution must be turned on.
from anthropic import Anthropic
from anthropic.lib import files_from_dir
client = Anthropic()
skill = client.skills.create(files=files_from_dir("internal-comms"))
print(skill.id) # use as a custom skill_id with the code execution toolChecks
SKILL.md validator results
Its SKILL.md (32 lines) run through our SKILL.md validator, with the folder’s file list, for both targets. These check the file’s format, not whether the skill works well.
