Overview

What it does

Apify’s MCP server gives an assistant access to Apify Store, a catalogue of thousands of ready-made scrapers and automation tools called Actors. The recommended setup is the hosted endpoint at mcp.apify.com, which signs in with OAuth or takes an Apify token as a bearer header. A local version runs with npx @apify/actors-mcp-server and an APIFY_TOKEN, but some features, such as rental Actors, need the hosted server.

By default the assistant can search for Actors, read an Actor’s input schema, call it and fetch the dataset it produces. It also has a web browser Actor and a page fetch Actor for quick lookups. Other tool groups cover runs and logs, storage, saved tasks, schedules, builds and the Apify API; you load them with a tools parameter. Pick it when an assistant needs structured data from websites without you writing a scraper.

Tools

What the assistant can do

  • search-actors, fetch-actor-details and call-actor
  • Dataset and key-value store access
  • Actor runs, logs and aborting runs
  • Saved Actor tasks, schedules and builds
  • Apify documentation search and fetch
  • Apify API search, read and (opt-in) write

Install

Install Apify MCP server in your app

You need:

  • An Apify account (free plan available)
  • An MCP client that supports remote servers

Run in your project. --scope local keeps the servers private to you in this project; use user for every project.

Terminal
claude mcp add --scope local --transport http apify https://mcp.apify.com
  • apify: if the server needs a sign-in, the app will ask (run /mcp in Claude Code).

Want it alongside other servers? Open Apify MCP Server in the MCP config generator and add the rest; it writes one file per app. The snippets follow the setup in the server’s README, checked on 2026-10-14.

Before you install

  • Running Actors uses your Apify credit, and some Actors charge per result or event.
  • Actors fetch content from third-party websites, so treat returned pages as untrusted input.
  • Pin the tools parameter (for example ?tools=actors, docs) to control what is loaded; delete-actor and apify-api-write are only loaded when named.
  • A remote server sees whatever the assistant sends it. Sign in with the narrowest access the service offers. See how to choose a safe server.

Why it’s listed

Why we list it

Official, released very often, and the widest catalogue of ready-made scrapers behind a single server.
