Meaning
What it means
Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans include a rolling allowance for a session window and for the week. When either runs out, Claude Code blocks requests until the reset time in the message. Session and weekly limits cover all models, so switching model doesn’t help with them; the Opus and Sonnet limits apply only to that model family.
Causes
Common causes
- Heavy use in the current window: long agentic tasks, large files, many subagents
- A burst of activity using up the weekly allowance before the session window resets
